Staying Connected with Moto X and Tracking Fitness with Fitbit Flex

Fall is a very, very busy time of year for moms. If you are like me, you are trying to juggle everything for your kids, family, and holidays while staying organized. Moms are in charge of multiple schedules, tasks, and responsibilities. I love being a work-at-home-mom, it gives me the flexibility to volunteer at my kids’ schools weekly as well as take them to all their extracurricular activities and sports.

Juggling multiple schedules while staying connected to my business emails, staying connected to social apps has been made much easier with the Motorola Moto X this month.

Motorola Moto X Review

meThe first thing I noticed about the Motorola Moto X the most is that it works seamlessly with all things Google – Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Calendar, Google Talk, and YouTube. Once I loaded my password, I was instantly connected to everything, including all of my phone numbers.

motoxpicThe Moto X Active Display feature gives me a visual notification of new email, text, tweet, etc instead of a audible alert. This is perfect for staying informed of new information without being disruptive. From the active display screen, you can check those new alerts without going through the main screen and opening each application. This is such a time saver!

The one feature that I have used most and couldn’t live without now is the Touchless Control. I can do a million things with my Moto X without even touching it. I can ask just about anyhing by saying “OK Google Now” and it responds with the answer. I can have it call a person or phone #, look up a phone number, get driving directions, check the weather, ask a measurement conversion for a recipe, ask a history fact, anything!  I use this often while driving for hands-free driving and many, many times to look up a phone # for the pharmacy, store, or school.

As a mom, I love to take pictures of my kids and as a blogger, I’m always in need of a camera for pictures of things I’ve found around town for families to do or of products. The Quick Capture feature on the Moto X is amazing. All I need to do is twist my wrist twice and the camera is ready to shoot a picture. I don’t have to press a button to get the screen on or search for the camera feature. The camera is ready to shoot just by twisting my wrist! This is perfect for capturing quick shots of fast-moving kids! The Moto X offers a dual camera –  10 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, 4 X digital zoom and video capture, as well as a 2 MP front-facing camera with video capture.

Track Your Fitness with Fitbit Flex

I’ve always wondered how many miles I have walked running after my kids when they were toddlers and now as I work on remodeling our home, walk our dog, and take care of my older kids. I’m tired by the end of the day sometimes, like I’ve walked 10 miles! With the Fitbit Flex, I can track it all, the total steps I’ve taken, distance, and even how many calories I’ve burned.

Everyone should walk an average of at least 10,000 steps. I figured that I did but on my first day, I didn’t. It was an all-work and no-play kind of day but it really gave me motivation to get more active! The next day, I hit 10,000 steps before evening and received my first Fitbit badge, it was quit motivating!

flextrackerAs you can see, the Fitbit Flex is small and looks just like a bracelet in the picture above.  It works well with the Moto X but can also work with other smartphones.flextracker2Being able to see how many steps I’ve taken, how many calories burned, and have many active minutes I’ve done throughout the day has really motivated me – far more than I imagined it would! I love seeing how many calories I burn by doing things like raking the leaves and cleaning my house – it’s amazing!flextrackercaloriesThe program on my computer and phone is so easy to navigate and utilize. I’ve really enjoyed charting my activity each day. It is showing me more about my patterns and why I consistently stay at my current weight and what I should do to improve it. I’m not as active on some days as I thought! I like that Fitbit spurs you on with badges. Once you hit a new milestone, they send an email with a new badge. It was really exciting when I got to 15,000 steps and then 20,000! Below, I had to brag to my Facebook friends when I got my 15,000 badge!

fitbitbadgeYou can also connect with other people using Fitbit and see how many steps they have taken. It is a great way to encourage other users and bond with a community on a fitness mission. When you purchase the Fitbit at Spring, you’ll have unlimited data so you can keep your it in sync while on the go.

You can also track your sleep with the Fitbit Flex. I couldn’t wait to track this. The first night was awful and honestly quite normal. I work often until 1am. This night, I didn’t settle down until after 2am, got up at 7am, and was restless 8 times.  I had thought that I had 5 hours of sleep, which I can normally manage but really, I had less than 4-1/2 – not healthy!

sleep2I wake up tired quit often, even if I get 6 or 7 hours of sleep.  The Fitbit Flex is showing me why. I am restless many times a night, 13+ times a night sometimes and awake for more than 5 minutes at a time at least once a night.

sleepI can even track when I wake up, which seems to start around 3am every night. I have also found that I don’t get as many hours of sleep as I have thought. I have used this data to change my sleeping habits. I’m going to bed earlier and it seems to help me stay asleep and be lest restless throughout the night. Buy the Fitbit Flex for just $99.99 with Sprint.

I’ve really enjoyed reviewing the Moto X and Fitbit Flex this month. I have been more connected while away from my computer as well as more organized and productive with the Moto X. I just love all the features of it. I am more aware of my activity and sleep habits with the Fitbit Flex which is giving me a better perspective of my health and in making health goals in my life. Both of the above products are available through Sprint.
