So the week that we have been waiting for since August is finally here. Moving week! Well, almost…We sold our house! Yippee!!! And the family is a perfect fit for our neighborhood with young kids – this is a bonus because we love our neighbors.
The “almost” part is that we don’t have a house to move into. We have a temp house that we will rent from friends from church which we are very thankful for, however it is up for sale and so if it sales, we will have to move again.
How did we get into this situation? Well, we thought we would take advantage of the market and find a home with more land. Our family loves, loves, loves being outdoors! My kids are in heaven when they are exploring the woods, picking blackberries, throwing rocks in the stream, and getting dirty! We can be found in the metroparks all summer long. So, we found a house that needs some work but it is at a great price with a nice piece of land. What’s the problem? It is a short sale. A short sale will give you a great deal but also a long wait. Short sale = long wait!
We made an offer 3 weeks ago (the day we accepted the offer on our house) and have not heard anything back from the bank processing the sale! We found out last week that they lost our proof of finances paperwork, so we resubmitted it. Now, we wait, which is hard with a 3 and 5 year old. And we move without knowing if we will get that house or not! What an adventure! lol If it all works out, it will be worth it.
So, I thought I’d post some pictures of the progression of the front room of our current home. We set up our front room as an office when we moved in. We loved it. My hubby and I designed the layout with furniture from IKEA and sat side by side surfing the internet, blogging, and we even started our home business (Remarkable Team) there. A realtor friend suggested that we turn it into an office to attract more buyers. I guess he was right because we got an offer 1 month after we changed the room to a living room. And now…it is filled with boxes as we prepare for the move!
This week will be crazy, so be patient as I try to juggle packing, cleaning, caring for my kids, volunteering at my son’s preschool field trip, saying goodbyes, and adding new prizes on this website. I have a ton to add, they are coming!
Glad to hear that you sold your home. Hopefully the short sale = (patience) will work out for you and the family.
So excited for you- I hope everything goes well with the transition. I know you will end up in the perfect home with more land!
