Dehydration can occur fast if you are sweating a lot while exercising, in the sun for extended periods of time, or are sick with a fever, vomiting (even with morning sickness), and diarrhea (even from “travelers’ diarrhea or irritable bowel syndrome).  The most common symptoms of dehydration can include increased thirst, dry mouth, dizziness, heart palpitations, confusion, and fainting. There are so many ways that we can quickly become dehydrated. Our bodies need adequate fluid and electrolytes to function normally so it is important to replace lost fluids with an effective product.

Hydralyte comes in several convenient forms including effervescent tablets, pre-mixed solution, and powder. Each rapidly replaces fluid and electrolytes lost because they contain the correct balance of sodium and glucose to rapidly rehydrate with clinical effectiveness.

I received product to facilitate this post.

I was talking with a nutritionist yesterday at our local gym. She mentioned how people who work out for more than 45 minutes – 1 hour of intense exercise should drink a product with electrolytes to replace what they have sweat out. My kids are Type 1 Diabetic so this is even more important for them as it can also help regulate blood sugar while exercising.

Many sports drinks are loaded with sugar so we can’t use them. I am happy to have found a product that helps manage dehydration (and my kids’ blood sugar levels while exercising) with 4X LESS sugar. Hydralyte is more effective than the sugary sports drinks at restoring lost electrolytes. Not only is this good for diabetics but everyone because all of that sugar causes bloating and impedes the hydration process. Why use a product that works against you?

My kids swim 1-1/2 hours a couple times a week. It is an extensive workout that normally requires sugar 1/2 way through to keep their blood sugar levels steady. Now that we’ve found Hydralyte, they just take a sip throughout their class to keep their bodies from being dehydrating and it helps maintain their blood sugar levels too.

We’ve tried both the effervescent tables and the oral solution – both are good, it’s all about preference. I like the effervescent electrolyte tablets because I can keep a bottle in our sports bags at all times.

Just pop a couple in a bottle of water and you have an effective way to stay hydrated.  This is good for moms to keep in their diaper bags too, especially nursing moms that can be become dehydrated quickly. (Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or nursing.)

I also like the pre-mixed oral electrolyte solution because it is all ready. This is good to have on hand in your pantry if someone becomes dehydrated, especially if sickness hits your family with vomiting and diarrhea. We all know how sickness spreads in homes, so it is convenient that an opened bottle will last up to 1 month in your fridge after being opened.

HydralyteIt is a good idea to have a product like Hydralyte on hand before you or your family becomes dehydrated. Keep a bottle of tablets in your diaper bag, purse, gym bag, or car while on the go. Keep the oral solution at home for illnesses.  You can purchase Hydralyte on Amazon.com in a wide range of flavors (Berry, Lemonade and Orange) and formats (Liquid, Powder or Tablets).

If you are severely dehydrated, seek medical help immediately especially if you have a fever over 103°, seizures, difficulty breathing, fainting, or chest pains.
