My kids love story time, we have always read a lot to our kids. We read a variety of books including Disney books, make-believe books, educational books, science books, animal books, and religious books that talk about God. Although all are important, it is always a delight as a mom when their favorite books are about God. I was able to review two such books that will encourage you and your kids whenever you read them.
Hear My Prayer Review
This delightful children’s book is all about prayer at a level that kids can understand. At my church, we have a Wednesday night program called Team Kid. Last week, the 3 and 4 year olds were asked to make a list of those they wanted to pray for. They were encouraged to pray for their friends. My 4 year old reminded me at prayer time last night that she was to pray for her friends. Kids, even as young as 3 and 4 get it. They understand prayer. They understand that it is good to pray for the ones they love.
We were able to review a book on prayer for kids ages 4-7 called, Hear My Prayer. Hear My Prayer is a collection of 12 prayers written at the level of young kids ages 4-7. Personally, I feel like you could read this to your younger kids as well. However, it is written not only as a book to be read to your kids but also for young readers to read on their own. The beautiful illustrations will capture the attention of kids of all ages. I love the use of multicultural pictures throughout the book too.
I love the title too, “Hear” My Prayer. Even as an adult, I am amazed that the God of the universe can hear and cares to hear my prayer. How much more so is this for kids, that the creator of all things is listening to their prayers. This book puts prayers in the language that kids can understand, giving them the understanding that anyone can pray, that there are no special words that need to be said, that even children can pray to God.
