I know there is some debate on whether allowing girls to get caught up into the Disney princesses is a good thing or not. Personally, I can see the point of protecting girls from the “helplessness” of some of the Disney princesses. However, girls want to be, dress, and play like the princesses they truly are. Elizabeth is no exception, she is so girly. She has a combination of Dora the Explorer and Disney Princesses decorating her room, filling her toy box, and wardrobe. That being said, I was super thrilled to find some really positive princess books for girls through Zonderkidz.
The Princess Parables Review
There are two delightful books in the The Princess Parables series that you and your daughter (ages 4-7) will enjoy reading together. I was so thrilled to have such a positive message being delivered to my daughter through a delightful stories.
We were able to review both books, Princess Grace and the Little Lost Kitten and Princess Joy’s Birthday Blessing. My daughter likes both but her favorite is Princess Grace, it’s a requested book at bedtime nearly every night.

The books are beautifully illustrated by Omar Aranda. The photos are colorful and lively, capturing the attention of girls easily. The princesses are beautiful, yet youthful and modest. That is another issue some have with Disney princesses that are giving girls unrealistic expectations on how to look.

At the very end of the book, there is a section called Parable Thoughts. This is where Princess Grace talks directly to your girl about how God taught her an important lesson through the story. In Princess Grace and the Little Lost Kitten, Princess Grace tells the reader that God blessed her with the strength and desire to do what was right, even in times of trouble. This allowed her to find her lost kitten.

Each book gives your daughter an empowering story about how one girl followed God’s way to better her and other lives. On the opposite page of the Parable Thoughts is the coordinating scripture. This is an easy way to reflect on what the Scriptures say and how it is similar to what happened in the book and how it can happen in their lives. Even girls as young as my 4 year old can understand the Bible when it is given to them in a real life application.
