It seems like Summer just started but it is already time to start thinking about back-to-school shopping. With the unseasonably cool week we are having in Ohio, it is the perfect time to grab your kids and do a little back-to-school shopping. My kids and I went to our local Kohl’s today – they were dreading it when we started but were all smiles when we were done!
I received a gift card to facilitate this post.
Back-to-School Shopping at Kohl’s
I love shopping at Kohl’s year-round for my entire family because of the brands, value, and selection.
I had planned on spending about $300 today on essential back-to-school supplies but with my coupon and everything being on sale, my below back-to-school haul from Kohl’s was only $218! I saved $160, plus I earned $40 in Kohl’s Cash!!
As I mentioned, my kids were not thrilled when they found out we were back-to-school shopping today. Just the mere mention of the word “school” made them go into panic mode. I assured them that school doesn’t start until next month.
Backpacks at Kohls
I assured my kids that that they could pick out a really cool backpack. This was my trick for easing into back-to-school shopping today.
Kohl’s has an amazing selection of backpacks, hundreds in fact! There were so many adorable backpacks for girls for all ages including My Little Pony, Disney Princesses, Minnie Mouse, Sofia the First, Ariel, Doc McStuffins, Tinkerbell, Monster High, Despicable Me, Strawberry Shortcake, animals, and many other color combinations.
The My Little Pony backpack with motion lights caught my daughter’s eye right away! It actually has several points on the ponies that blink when you walk or move the backpack.
She loves it! It is perfect for second grade with a large zippered area as well as a small zippered pocket and two places for water bottles on the sides. Now, to keep her from playing with it for the next month!
There was just as many backpack choices for boys! There were many options for little kids like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Skylanders, Batman, Spider-Man, Pokemon, WWE, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Transformers, Avengers, Nintendo, How to Train Your Dragon, Disney Planes, and so many more. For older boys and teens, there are many brands like Adidas, Nike, Fila, and more to choose from.
Elijah went with the bright blue and neon green Adidas backpack. It has several compartments and pockets for all his belongs as he heads to fourth grade in the Fall. I did notice that there are different sizes of backpacks to choose from too, which is great for the various ages like my son who doesn’t need a gigantic backpack that a college student would need but yet it is larger than a preschooler backpack.
School Supplies at Kohl’s
Next, we purchased school supplies to fill those backpacks! That was also fun for my kids as they had the displays right next to the kids’ clothing department in the aisle. This is the first year that Kohl’s is offering school supplies. Kohl’s partnered with Office Max to deliver school supplies and back-to-school essentials on everyone’s list this Fall. Plus, prices are 20-80% off and eligible for Kohl’s cash!!I had my kids’ school supplies list on my phone and got most of the essentials today – besides the baby wipes and tissues! It was so easy. I also liked that they had only the best brands – not the knock-off brands that are so cheap they don’t do the job.
Back-to-School Fashion at Kohl’s
knit jeans and ribbed leggins with sweaters this Fall is a trend you’ll see not only on girls but in women’s fashion as well. Layered looks are in style and you’ll find that Kohl’s has layered tops even with matching necklaces and/or scarves to get your little fashionista in style with the latest fashion.
Elizabeth loves her new Mudd knit jeans. They are so soft and comfortable with the look of a cross between leggings and jeans with faux front pockets and even double button closure. She paired it with a bright pink top from SO. To complete the colorful ensemble, she chose vivid Skechers Synergy Confetti sneakers.
Activewear fashion continues to be popular for boys in Fall of 2014. Kohl’s has all the name brands that boys love including Adidas, Nike, ASICS, Champion, FILA, Reebok, Tony Hawk, and more. Pair it with fun t-shirts with clever sayings and your good to go! They also have a great selection of athletic sportswear and teamwear for all our local sports teams.
Elijah picked out several cool t-shirts and paired them with Nike shorts and Tony Hawk sneakers for a look that will take him from the classroom to the playground.
His pose above on the street was his idea. He wanted to show others that shopping at Kohl’s really isn’t that bad for kids because they have really cool stuff! This is a huge statement coming from my son because he normally hates to go shopping!
Back-to-School Shoes at Kohl’s
Pick up a couple pairs of shoes for back-to-school at Kohl’s too. They are always on sale and are all the name brands you know and trust for comfort, support, and style.
We had a very productive day at Kohl’s today and I look forward to finishing up my back-t0-school shopping later this month!
