With the New Year here, many of us have taken inventory of our lives and what we would like to do in the new year. It is the perfect time to evaluate what matters most and how we can improve our lives and that of our families. Have you considered going back to school to get a better job? How about taking a class in something that interest you or picking up a new hobby?
My dad went back to school when I was a kid
I remember when I was in elementary school, my dad went back to school for his Bachelors Degree to become a pastor. He was determined to answer the call to the ministry. I remember him going to his office to study after a long day at work. He would spend hours studying. Thankfully, it was an online college that allowed him the flexibility he needed to earn his degree while working full time and being dad to his kids. After years of hard work, he earned his degree.
I was only 6 but I was so proud to travel to another state to watch him receive his diploma. Our lives changed after that. We moved to a new town a couple hours away where my dad took his first position as the pastor of a small church. His hard work showed me that you can do anything you put your mind to. He bettered our lives and gave us more opportunities than we would have had if he stayed with his previous job. Later in life, he went back to school again to earn his Masters Degree in Divinity. I was so proud of him.
When it was my turn to graduate, my dad let me know that he would do anything necessary for me to attend college. I’m thankful that I was able to earn my Bachelors Degree in Business. It enabled me to land a marketing job out of college. Once I decided to be a stay-at-home mom, that degree and training gave me the ability to use my skills in a new way as a “Mommy blogger”. All because my dad went back to school as an adult when I was a child.
Thinking of Going Back to School?
There are many reasons to go back to school. One of the most rewarding aspects is getting 20% more pay with an associate’s degree or 65% more with a bachelor’s degree. That is huge in today’s economy where most homes are dual-income homes. Getting 65% more in your paycheck since you have a degree can’t be ignored.
If you are considering going back to school or picking up a new trade, I recommend checking out Ivy Bridge College. Ivy Bridge College is dedicated to helping moms earn their degrees – 1/2 of their students are moms!
They offer many support services that are designed to help the busy mom who wants to earn their degree at home.
- Weekly coaching for career planning, resume writing, interviewing skills, and more.

- Ability to earn your college degree as quickly as 17 months
I know people that have tried to earn their college degree only to find that their credits won’t transfer from one college to the next. Ivy Bridge College has partnered with 150 “name brand” schools so that you can transfer your associate degree courses to pursue a 4-year degree. This is truly amazing! You won’t have to worry about wasting credits, time, and money because your courses won’t transfer. I have had friends that this happened to when they tried to go back to school, they gave up or lost a lot of time and money because their courses wouldn’t transfer. Had they known about Ivy Bridge College, they would have saved a lot of money, time, and frustration – plus, they would have earned their degree that much sooner. I think it is genius that they set up such a partnership with the “name brand” schools.
Not sure if you can afford to go back to school? Think of the paycheck increase that you’ll see once you earn your degree. Ivy Bridge College is affordable for most because it cost 1/3 of what it cost to attend other private schools.
