Shark Attacks are down as people stay closer to home for vacations

One good thing about our poor economy is that the number of shark attacks in the United States has dropped dramatically! In 2007, there were 50 shark attacks, 41 in 2008, and just 28 in 2009. With fewer people headed to the beach for vacations, there are less people taking risks in the ocean.

According to a Live Science post, this is just one change that the recession has changed. Another that I found interesting is the birth rates. People are waiting to decide if they can afford to have kids because of the economy. I believe it, kids are expensive!

We went to Lake Erie this past summer for an Ohio getaway. Seriously, it feels a lot like the ocean with sandy beaches and gentle waves. Kids enjoy the sand, waves, and splashing! Adults like boating, fishing, swimming, and water skiing on Lake Erie. Plus, the threat of Shark Attacks = 0! 🙂
