There are so many people working hard for causes they believe in. There are so many underfunded programs that could be more effective with a boost in resources. There are so many small towns and communities that don’t have the resources they need to better their communities. Is there a cause you believe in? Do you volunteer, donate, and try to improve your community? Growing up in several small towns as a child, I witnessed lack to so many programs and resources that the larger communities seem to have easy access to. I saw abandoned buildings that should have been demolished and playgrounds that were no longer safe because they were so old.
As an adult and parent now, I find myself giving to causes that I are important to me, like baby clothing and supplies to Akron Pregnancy Services or canned goods to the Haven of Rest. We can all do our part. Because of my passion for helping worthy causes, I was excited to have the opportunity to promote an amazing program and contest through this sponsored post on the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program, to which I received a promotional item for letting you know about how you can help 40 fantastic causes receive $25,000 in State Farm Neighborhood Assist grants.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist
I respect and give my business to companies that give back to the community. State Farm is giving 40 worthy causes $25,000 EACH in grant money to fulfill their cause. There are 200 entries that are seeking these grants including causes like adding crosswalks to busy roads, buying driving simulator for small community, college preparatory education courses, start a community garden, children’s theatre, extracurricular sports for kids with disabilities, and more.
These causes were submitted by people within their community. The top 200 entries are asking you to help make their cause one of the 40 that will receive $25,000 in grants! You can vote up to 10 times a day for one cause or up to 10. Vote now through April 22, 2013. The top 40 causes will receive $25,000 each. This is an easy way to make a difference for so many worth causes.
Here is how the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program works:
Check out previous winners of the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program. One of my favorites from 2012 was in Straughn,IN. This community of only 300 people had a condemned building that was causing safety concerns and danger. Rats and other rodents were taking over, the roof was collapsing, and it smelled horrible. Residents were afraid to walk near it as it was only a matter of time before it completely collapsed.
They won a $25,000 State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant and had the building demolished. A new, safe green space is in its place. I like this story so much because it was a seemingly impossible feat for a small community of just 300 people to do anything about. They felt helpless. If it wasn’t for one person applying for the State Farm program and hundreds of people voting for their cause, it would still be a safety concern. I’ve grown up in small towns with similar problems and can feel their concern and now joy.
Community safety and development for small towns is close to my heart, I’m glad it is close to State Farm’s heart too as they pour $1 million dollars into communities across the country!
