Do you carry a First-Aid Kit in your car? If not, you probably should. These days, families are on-the-go with a slew of activities, so it only follows that bumps, cuts, gashes, bruises and other emergencies are bound to happen while we are away from home. The First Years, a trusted name in baby and toddler products, has teamed up with the experts at the American Red Cross and created the Red Cross Ready On-the-Go First Aid Kit. I was provided with this kit in order to facilitate my review.

Are You Ready or Not to Rumble?!
Earlier this summer, my girls were with family friends hiking in the Metroparks. My husband and I got a call from the mom hiking with the kids. Her daughter had been stung by hornets while hiking, and her leg was quickly swelling and she was having trouble catching her breath. Other people on the trail were also getting attacked by the swarm of angry hornets. It was a very scary situation for all involved. Our friend called 911, and at the same time, my husband and I packed up ice packs and our first aid supplies and headed to the park in case we got to them first. It took me a couple of minutes to pack up our first aid supplies.
My husband and I have often said we should each have a first aid kit in the car, but like other things, hadn’t yet gotten around to getting extra first aid kits to keep in the car. But those days are over – we now have one The First Years/American Red Cross On-the-Go First Aid Kit in each of our cars. The $20.00 price tag is small compared to the peace-of-mind of knowing we’ll be well equipped whenever we are away from home. I think we’ll also pack one of our On-the-Go First Aid Kits next time we travel too.

The On-the-Go First Aid Kit – Everything You Need in an Emergency in 1 Convenient Case
Each On-the-Go First Aid Kit Includes:
- Large, medium and small gauze pads
- Rolls of gauze
- Loads of bandages in multiple sizes
- Hand sanitizer
- Alcohol cleansing pads
- First-aid tape
- First-aid scissors
- Tweezers
- Instant cold compress
- Cloth blanket – to warm & comfort injured or use with cold compress
- Product usage and cleaning guide
- Emergency first-aid “how to” guide
That’s quite a list all conveniently stored in one go-to kit, isn’t it?! I was particularly thrilled to see the Emergency First-Aid Guide. It’s been years since I’ve taken a CPR class, and the procedures have changed in recent years. This booklet covers everything from action steps to take when an emergency happens, to allergic reactions, breathing emergencies, cardiac arrest (for infants, children and adults), and even heat stroke, strokes, creating splints, and dealing with head and neck injuries. Who couldn’t use a refresher when dealing with the stress of an emergency? We LOVE this booklet and the first aid kit!
