I had such a great time perfecting this recipe—and I’m so excited to finally share it with you! Believe it or not, I had never made a blueberry bread before, let alone one with collagen. I’ve been on a bit of a mission lately to find simple, delicious ways to add healthier ingredients into my family’s everyday life. One of the things I’ve been experimenting with is adding more protein and collagen into our diet, especially as I’ve learned more about how important it is as we get older.
This Blueberry Collagen Bread is the result of that journey. I wanted to make something that felt like a treat—moist, tender, full of juicy blueberries—but with real nutritional benefits.

I also chose to make this recipe gluten-free so that more people, including those with sensitivities, can enjoy it. That choice definitely threw a few curveballs my way during testing, as did using unsweetened applesauce to cut down on fat and calories. But after about six attempts (yes, six!), I finally landed on the version that checks all the boxes: flavorful, satisfying, and nourishing.

Imagine handing your kids a hearty, homemade slice of this Blueberry Collagen Bread after school instead of another bag of Goldfish crackers—it’s those small swaps that really add up over time.
Why I Chose Naked Marine Collagen
As I started exploring collagen options, I came across Naked Nutrition and was impressed by their commitment to clean ingredients. Their Naked Marine Collagen comes from wild-caught fish and contains no sugar, additives, artificial colors, or sweeteners. It’s a single-ingredient product—just pure collagen—so I know exactly what I’m putting into my body and sharing with my family.
The brand’s philosophy of “Nutrition With Nothing To Hide®” really spoke to me. I love when companies make it easy to eat healthier without all the junk.
How I Used the Collagen in This Recipe
To get the most benefit, I added Naked Marine Collagen to both the bread and the lemon glaze. All of the ingredients for this recipe are probably in your cabinet, except of the collagen, go get it now.

I’m really proud of how easy it was to incorporate the marine collagen into the batter – nobody would guess this was a healthier blueberry bread even with a heaping 2/3 cup of it!

Naked Marine Collagen adds a protein punch without changing the flavor or texture at all. If you have baked anything with protein powder, you may have noticed a grainy texture, I didn’t notice that with this collagen at all. That’s one of my favorite things about it—you can literally stir this collagen powder into anything and not even know it’s there. Coffee, yogurt, smoothies, muffins, soups—you name it. It mixes right in and dissolves completely. With that knowledge, I decided to add a little extra collagen in the lemon glaze as well!

Why not, right? There is no texture issue, you can’t taste it and it adds a little extra collagen and protein – it’s literally icing on the cake!
This recipe bakes up pretty nice for a gluten-free bread. I think I nailed all the measurements pretty well! That being said, this can easily be a traditional bread if you don’t want it to be gluten-free or only have traditional flour on hand. If you don’t want the added sweetness, the glaze isn’t 100% necessary either.

I do like a light glaze on the bread, so the measurements in this recipe gives a nice, light glaze. If you like a fully iced blueberry bread, double the glaze ingredients. If you don’t care for the subtle lemon flavor, don’t add it although I like that added zest of lemon flavor matched with blueberries.

A Small Change That Makes a Big Difference
Adding more whole foods and clean ingredients into our lives doesn’t have to be complicated. Finding products like Naked Marine Collagen makes it easier to take care of our health in simple, daily ways. So whether you’re baking or just stirring Naked Marine Collagen into your breakfast, it’s a super easy way to sneak in a little extra protein and support your skin, joints, and bones at the same time. I’m so happy to have found a product I can trust, and one that’s this easy to incorporate into my everyday routine.
It’s these small changes—like swapping out processed snacks for homemade treats with added benefits—that really make a difference as we age.
Collagen and Protein Needs for Women by Age
Here’s a quick breakdown of daily recommendations to help you get the most from your efforts:
| Age Group | Suggested Collagen Intake | Suggested Protein Intake |
|---|---|---|
| 30s | 2.5–15 grams/day | ~46–56 grams/day* |
| 40s | 2.5–15 grams/day | ~50–60 grams/day* |
| 50s | 2.5–15 grams/day | ~55–70 grams/day* |
*Exact needs vary based on body weight and activity level.
Naked Marine Collagen provides 12 grams of collagen per serving, which equals 11 grams of protein. So, just one generous slice of this Blueberry Collagen Bread gives you 11 grams of collagen and 11 grams of protein. That’s a great head start to meet those goals.
For those that are watching their carbs like we do with type one diabetics in our house, you’ll be pleased to know that this has 43 grams of carbohydrates per hearty slice. A traditional recipe would have at least 60 grams of carbs. If you’re looking to lower the carb count, using a natural sugar substitute like Stevia or Monk Fruit instead of instead of regular granulated sugar and Stevia powdered sugar instead of traditional powdered confectioner’s sugar, this will make a big difference.

If you’re looking for a delicious, family-friendly way to add more nutrition into your life, I highly recommend giving this recipe and Naked Nutrition Marine Collagen a try. It’s easy to make, packed with protein, and full of ingredients you can feel good about. Enjoy it for breakfast, as an afternoon snack, or even dessert—and feel good knowing it’s helping you take care of yourself and your family, one slice at a time.
