We caught my daughter’s flareup early on but you can see how her hands are dry and red. 
This is nothing like it use to be when we didn’t have consistent management for her skin, they use to bleed and hurt a LOT.

Since we started using AVEENO Eczema Therapy Collection several years ago, we have been able to break the eczema cycle before it gets to the damaged, inflamed state.

I have tried making my own homemade version of an oatmeal bath several times with different recipes. Between grinding down the oatmeal and adding ingredients like milk, honey, and oils, all I ended up with was unhappy kids sitting in oatmeal and a ton of sediment at the bottom of the bathtub in the end.
That is why I now use AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy Soothing Bath Treatment. It is way easier, clean and a lot more effective.
Be sure to only use warm, not hot water to bathe in and to wash hands throughout the day to help keep skin from dying out. Teach your children to pat themselves dry with a towel, and not to rub their skin dry.

Break the Eczema Cycle – Don’t Scratch
One of the hardest and most important ways to break the eczema cycle is to not scratch. When you scratch your irritated, itchy skin, the scratch compromises the skin that it actually makes it feel more itchy. It is hard to tell kids not to itch, try distracting them with a game, story or other activity that will keep their mind off of their itchy skin. at night, consider letting them wear gloves to bed. This will allow their skin to start the healing process.

One of the best materials for your skin is 100% cotton, skip the synthetic materials on your clothes and bedding. Other materials can irritate your skin and make you feel itchy all over.
