This August 7-9, 2015 will be the first ever sales tax holiday for Ohio! Get all your back to school shopping done with no sales tax! Many southern states have done this for years, this will be the first ever sales tax holiday for Ohio!
Ohio Sales Tax Holiday for Back to School Shopping!
Pay no sales tax in Ohio on Friday, August 7 – Sunday, August 9th on these back-to-school items:
- Clothing that cost $75 or less per item (all sizes!)
- Back to school supplies that cost $20 or less per item
Sadly, computers, tablets, and higher priced items for back-to-school shopping are excluded. This may change in the future since other states allow these electronics.
I’m thrilled to get this tax break on all my back to school shopping! The savings will really add up! Expect Black Friday like traffic at clothing stores in Ohio during the tax holiday weekend. I don’t know if they will also be offering Black Friday like sales but let’s hope!
You can purchase in store or online during this Ohio sales tax free weekend.
Not an Ohioan? These states also offer tax holidays for back to school, be sure to verify the dates though! Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
