I was invited by Giant Eagle to tour the Market District in Green last week for their grand opening. With a fantastic group of local bloggers, we were given a tour by Chef Ben D’Amico of this new, amazing store!
The first stop for any foodie has to be the produce department! Fresh is best! Market District offers an enormous display of the freshest produce from all over the world. You’ll find an extensive selection of 100% organic food as well as foodie favorites like dragon fruit and Buddha’s hand. Market District has exotic ingredients for every foodie. If you are not sure about an ingredient, ask the produce manager. They are happy to educate you on how to eat and prepare the new fruits and vegetables that may be foreign to you.
The cheese shop offers an impressive selection of cheese. The cheese is delivered as whole cheese wheels and they do their own crackings as they celebrate the birthday of the cheese as it is finally ready to eat after the trip from Italy. They also offer culinary delights of duck, quail, and emu eggs!
Along with the high quality meats you expect from Giant Eagle, Market District offers exotic meats like duck, rabbit, rattlesnake, python, and wild boar. They even have a dry aged beef case that showcases the rib roasts from start to finish!
Throughout Market District, you’ll find more than you would ever expect at a grocery store. It has everything you expect and want from a Giant Eagle but throughout, there are specailty products that beg to be exploored like expensive dried mushrooms, specialty oils, vinegars, salts, nuts, loose leaf tea, dried peppers, and spices in bulk. I like that you can buy as little as you need to sample in a recipe. I love that Market District offers everything you need to feed your family and expand your culinary skills under on roof. No more searching and driving around to small specialty stores for one exotic ingredient!
The Market District bakery is paradise. From the specialty fresh baked breads to row after row of baked treats, cakes, and pies, you will be tempted beyond belief. I could shop Market District every week and never purchase the same treats! I was amazed at the variety and number of treats, many of which were decorated for Fall. The bakery items are top notch gourmet, items you would be proud to serve at a party or give as a hostess gift.
Market District also offers a Sweet Shop filled with more tempting delights. Delight in hand-dipped chocolates, nostalgic candies, fresh kettle-cooked popcorn, decorated caramel apples, and so much more. They even have a cotton candy machine for fresh spun cotton candy! It is a dream come true for your sweet tooth!
The Market District in Green offers everything you could possibly imagine for unique recipes to serve your family and friends at their Foodie Fare. They also offer gourmet market of prepared foods to go or to enjoy in their cafe. The cafe boasts a wok station, sushi and noodle bar, house made pizzeria, smoke & fire roasted rotisserie, house made subs, coffee shop, juice bar, and wine & draft beer bar! It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy delicious cuisine with friends and family.s
Dine in inside their two-story dining area with free WiFi. The second floor offers a more intimate dining area that overlooks the beautiful store. The decor of the dining area is welcoming and modern.
I was so impressed by all of the prepared food choices. The salad bar alone offer 70 fresh cut daily items – I’m a huge salad bar lover and plan to go back just for this! I also plan to bring my family to enjoy the wok bar where they prepare your food fresh before your eyes! My husband and son will also love the extensive sushi and noodle bar with delights prepared fresh daily. They go well beyond what a typical Giant Eagle offers – which my family already enjoys. We can’t wait to fully enjoy and appreciate all that the new Market District has to offer!
I Met Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence!
A huge perk of being a food blogger is meeting amazing people. One of those people is celebrity chef Tyler Florence! My friend Ann Louise and I were simply amazed at how inspirational Tyler was at the blogger meet and greet. He has just returned from a Design Leadership Summit and was pumped about knowing your brand. He inspired each of us to road map out entire career to visualize the best case scenario, then back peddle to make it happen.
One piece of advice that Tyler Florence gave us as shoppers is to shop the recipe. Not only does it reduce food waste but it helps answer the question “What’s for dinner” that we each face daily!
Tyler Florence believes that the key to success is to love what you are doing! He obviously loves what he is doing as he is very successful but it didn’t happen over night or without risks, hard work, and determination. The word “No” doesn’t mean to give up, it means to find another way to make your dream happen. We each have to tell our own story and make our story happen. Wow! He was inspirational! We also received an autograph copy of his new must-have cookbook, Tyler Florence Fresh.
Grand Opening of Market District in Green, Ohio
We had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting of the Market District in Green, Ohio Grand Opening too. The Green Mayor Norton and Tyler Florence cut the ribbon, welcoming the new store to the city of Green.
Green residents are going to be spoiled rotten! Even if you don’t live in Green, Ohio, you should take a special trip to take in this true culinary experience! It’s only about 25 minutes from me, so I plan to go at least once at month to try out new, exciting recipes and to treat my family to one of their restaurants. Trust me, it’s worth the drive!
There are currently 4 Giant Eagle Market District stores in Ohio, with promise of more to come. In the immediate area, Uniontown and Solon, OH are close by.
