The Growing Years in Stow, OH – A Children’s Resale Store

My secret is out – I like to shop resale stores and find adorable clothing for my two girls.  I’ll even share with you one of my secret weapons in dressing my girls like a million bucks but not spending it – I shop at The Growing Years in Stow, OH!

The Growing Years has been in business for fourteen years.  They have long been known as a place to find treasure troves of gently used, high quality, brand name children’s clothing, baby gear and equipment, and toys.   About four years ago, they actually doubled the size of their store.  This allowed them to expand their offerings to include a nice sized junior’s section, and a good sized maternity section, which I bought from when I was pregnant with Lila.  Who wants to spend big money on clothing you are going to wear for such a short time, right?  Not me!

Owner, Lisa Anguilo, showed me around the store and helped me put together some fun outfits for Lila.  I’ve always liked shopping at The Growing Years because it is organized, and carries all the coveted brands like Gymboree, Aeropostale, Hollister, Gap, Addidas, Abercrombie & Fitch, and on and on…  I honestly don’t think there is a time that I have walked out of the store without at least one item – typically it is several more. I’ve even snagged a few Baby Lulu items there.   When the prices are this good, a woman’s gotta do what a woman’s gotta do, right?  🙂

Our Back to School Finds From The Growing Years Resale Store

My girls were excited to get the chance find some clothing for back to school time.  Lila (4), wanted every single cute patterned skirt in her size.  We were finally able to narrow it down to three very usable and adorable outfits – all for under $30.00 total.  Alyssa, now 9 and very opinionated about what she’ll wear, ran off to the section with her size, and got busy putting together her own outfits.  To her, it’s not only style she’s looking at, but she’s also reached that age where the brand is just as important.  She too, was able to come in at below $30.00 for her 3 outfits.  Amazed?  Think it’s to good to be true?  I’ve got photos and itemized pricing to prove it!

I must admit, I’m an absolute sucker for the Gymboree outfits like Lila is wearing in the above photo!  This outfit included the sweater dress, tights, and matching hair band, all for $14.99.  I could tell as soon as Alyssa put this dress on from Epic Threads, that she felt pretty in it.  Why would I say no, especially when it comes in at $7.99 total for the tank dress and coordinating cardigan sweater?!

Lila is wearing yet another killer Gymboree piece (I warned you of my weakness!).  This cute Gymboree sweater with mulit-colored pom-pom trim was a steal at $5.99.  The over-the-top corduroy gauchos are Cherokee brand, and were $4.99.  Alyssa is purplicious in a Justice plaid shirt $8.99, and Justice cropped pants $7.99.

Every girl needs some great casual wear in her closet!  Lila fell in love with this tunic style top from Old Navy $4.99.  Her Gymboree leggings were $3.99.  She asked to sleep in this shirt the other night, she loves it so much!  Alyssa was equally crazy about her Abercrombie & Fitch graphic tee $3.99 and Justice flare jeans $7.99.

The Grand Totals for Our Purchases at The Growing Years

Our grand totals for both girls were made even better by a deal The Growing Years has going on right now.  If you like them on Facebook, they’ll offer you $7.00 off your order totaling $29.99 or more.  With that in mind, here are our shopping spree totals:

Lila’s 3 outfits:       $14.99 + $10.98 + $8.98 = $34.98  minus $7.00 Facebook coupon = $27.95

Alyssa’s 3 outfits: $7.99 + $16.98 + $11.98 = $36.95  minus $7.00 Facebook coupon = $29.95

Another great offer currently at The Growing Years is both a discount, and an outreach opportunity for you as a shopper.  Bring in a container of Similac formula to donate to Pregnancy Care of Summit County (a regular recipient of items from The Growing Years), and they’ll give you a donation slip AND a $5.00 coupon off a $20.00 purchase.  Double Nice!

It’s also summer clearance time at The Growing Years, with 25% off all summer stock.  An coming in October, they have their semi-annual $1.00 an item sale, where all profits go to charity.

Grow Your Profit When Selling Clothes at The Growing Years

You also can get a bonus from The Growing Years when you sell your gently used  items to them.  They will give you a 30% higher pay out if you opt to take your payment in the form of a one year store gift card rather than cold hard cash.  Use this feature on a few items, an you’ve saved enough for another outfit or two.  🙂
