Today is the day Google updates their algorithms used by mobile devices to preferably return search results for websites that look good on small screens.
I’m excited to say that our website has been mobile friendly for years, and upon a phone based google search, it easily states Mobile-Friendly, verifying what we have known!
How is this done? Well, basically we send additional instructions to phones that say “HEY, if your screen is small, show things stacked and full width, instead of side by side”. This method is called being mobile-responsive.
An easy way to test if your website does this function is of course to check it out on a phone, but also SHRINK the width of your web-browser on your PC.. This effectively depicts your website on a smaller size window/screen.
So how is your website doing?
Along with this blog, the main business in our household is website design. We create new websites for everything from heavy industry to restaurants to non-profits. 95% of the work we have done in the last year has been mobile responsive website design. A recent project was for a Ohio based distributor of heavy machines used in the plastics industry. Another was for selling spices.
