Mother’s Day is early this year, May 8th! Are you ready? Now is the time to start thinking about the perfect gift to show mom how much you love her.
My mom recently moved to a new house. Her yard needs a little TLC and new flowers. Traditionally, I’ve helped her landscape her yard because it is something I really enjoy doing and she loves the help. This year, we had a mother-daughter day out that included a trip to BJ’s in Cuyahoga Falls to pick out a Mother’s Day gift together.

I’ve never went shopping with my mom for a Mother’s Day gift for her. Since she is in a new house, she has a better understanding of what that house and yard needs most. My plan was to pick up a new chair, decorative planter and flower for her but we found a million other amazing Spring gift ideas too!
We were first greeted by beautiful potted and hanging flowers! My mom immediately pointed out the beautiful begonias. 
There are so many unique and beautiful planters for every style of home and yard. I personally love the Rock Planter, it would work very well with our Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home. (Hint, hint to my husband!) The Southern Patio barrel planters are more my mom’s style since she now lives on a farm.
There were many styles of outdoor chairs for relaxing outside, at the beach, at sporting events, and more. All make lovely Mother’s Day gifts for the outdoors type of moms. I was looking for a chair that she and my dad could use to relax in the backyard, overlooking the farm.
Another great Mother’s Day gift for moms that like to spend time outside during the summer are citronella tiki torches. Not only will they keep the mosquitoes away but provide a little light and yard decor as well. 
My mom had her eye on the solar lights too. This is a decorative way to light your sidewalk, drive, or gardens making it both practical and pretty.
This Solar Wind Spinner really caught my mom’s eye (and mine)! This 6′ tall decorative garden art has 2 large flowers that spin. In the center there is a solar ball that lights up at night. 
We spent a couple hours at the store, checking out all of their new spring merchandise! There was so much to choose from that we had to take a break for a quick BJ’s selfie! Can you tell that we were having way too much fun?! 🙂
Although we didn’t get exactly what I had planned, my mom picked out exactly what she wanted for Mother’s Day this year. She picked out two chairs that she and my dad can relax on while overlooking the farmland.
She is really enjoying the solar wind spinner already – both in the daytime as the flowers spin and at night when the solar light glows in the darkness.
And the begonias are a gorgeous addition of flowers and color to her yard.
This is exactly as I imagined my mom’s Mother’s Day gift. A few things to brighten up her new home and a place to relax “down on the farm” as my parents like to say! I wanted a picture that captured all 3 of the below gift items, although she moved the flowers to hang outside her kitchen window and the spinner in the garden. 
I love that my mom will be able to enjoy her new home a little bit more because of my Mother’s Day gift, and she’ll think of me every time she steps outside. We had such a fun time shopping together, it may become a new tradition.
