The Pout-Pout Fish is all about a fish that feels that it is his destiny to be pouty and depressed. The book comes with an accompany CD with the book read by Alexander Gould, the memorable voice of Nemo in Disney’s FINDING NEMO. My kids really enjoy listening to the CD, especially at bed time.

There are many lessons to be learned in The Pout-Pout Fish about attitude, friendship, and more. It is a beautifully illustrated book for kids ages 3-6. Throughout the book, the Pout-Pout Fish proclaims:
I’m a pout-pout fish with a pout-pout face, so I spread the dreary-wearies all over the place.

Have you heard the phrase, a frown is an upside down smile? It is the underlying premise of this book. When the Pout-Pout fish lets himself just fall all over the place in his dreary ways, he lands upside down on his back, head up. Of course, the frown then looks like a smile. So, when a new, silver shimmer fish approaches the Pout-Pout fish, she discovers not a dreary-weary fish but a cheery-cheery fish. In the end, the Pout-Pout fish gets a total attitude adjustment and claims:
I’m a kiss-kiss fish with a kiss-kiss face for spreading cheery-cheeries all over the place!

This is a great lesson on attitude for kids learn and remember throughout life.
