My kids have enjoyed building and playing with K’NEX building sets for several years now. It is fun to see how each year they are able to do more and more on their own. We had the opportunity to review several kits for ages 7 and up as well as some Mario characters for ages 6 and up. Now, your kids can build and rebuild different cool vehicles just like a real Top Gear® mechanic with Stig’s building sets!

K’NEX Top Gear Stig’s Track Car & Bike Building Set Review
My husband built the Stig’s Track Car & Bike Building Set with my 5 year old daughter, Elizabeth. With this set, you can build a sleek track car and rough riding motorbike. Or combine the two models for a huge lorry. This 208 piece set also comes with a Stig figure driver.
[slickr-flickr tag=trackcarandbike]Although it is much too complicated for her to follow the directions and build the set, my husband was able to give her instructions on how to put together pieces of the building set that were repetitive. I thought this was a good approach because she could build and rebuild the same sequence several times. For me, I would have just followed the instructions step by step and asked her to locate the pieces and help me put them together, in order. His way allowed her to work independently. This just goes to show that there are learning opportunities if you just look for them, even if the toy is not “age-appropriate’.
K’NEX Top Gear Stig’s Race Car Building Set Review
My 7 year old son and I build the K’NEX Stig’s Race Car Building Set. This 158 piece set allows you to created a fast race car or an all-terrain quad bike, let your creativity go! It also comes with a Stig figure driver and Stig poster included.
[slickr-flickr tag=stigsracecar]Although I am not the best at reading directions and following them with building sets, we were able to do it. 🙂 The instructions are word-less, so even kids that are still learning to read can follow them. We did have to build the car in a couple sessions since it was a 147 piece set and my son’s attention spam isn’t quit as long as that. 🙂 He was able to follow the instructions more so than he has in the past, even with a set that is right at his age group.
