Ellenborough Park, a 16th Century luxury manor house in the heart of the Cotswolds, is a retreat that will not disappoint whether you are traveling as a couple, with family or with friends. Adjacent to the famous Cheltenham Racecourse of Downton Abbey. Ellenborough Park boasts 62 rooms and suites, a world-class spa and two fabulous restaurants. What’s not to love?
There are four spacious suites at Ellenborough Park, each named after a famous racehorse in honor of the hotels close relationship with the Cheltenham Racecourse. Our favorite is the Istabraq Suite, which has the original tudor beams and an open floor plan. Just look at that bathroom!
Ellenborough Park is very relaxing, with its large fireplace in the Great Hall, Indian-themed spa and picturesque views. However, it is a great destination hotel for adventurers as well! The hotel is very centrally located for seeing all of what the English Countryside has to offer – historic sights, quaint limestone villages, miles of hiking and biking trails, and much more. The Ian Coley Shooting School, run by Great Britain’s Head Olympic Coach Ian Coley is just down the road for those who would like to perfect their shot, but for those who would really like to do something different, the nearby Longdole Polo school can teach travelers how to play polo in a mere 90 minutes! Now that is a skill to take home with you!
Foodies will also rejoice in the restaurant offerings at Ellenborough Park. They offer two different dining experiences, a more casual menu in their Brasserie and the Beaufort Dining Room, which features three AA Rosettes and is a perfect setting for special occasions. They also have 500 different wines on offer from wine regions around the world. In addition to the many amenities available at Ellenborough Park, there is so much to do in the surrounding areas and villages.
The next time you are planning a holiday in England, be sure to check out this quaint, historical destination.
