For most moms, the arrival of summer ushers in the desire to plan a memorable vacation for the kids. Unfortunately, a tropical getaway or beach retreat is not always financially feasible. There truly is no need to travel far from home to make memories with the family, however. This year, we are focusing on mini “staycations.” A “staycation” is an economical alternative to the traditional vacation that often requires a significant amount of travel time and money to accomplish.
Recently, my family was provided a short stay at Comfort Inn and four passes to Splash Harbor to review the attraction in nearby Bellville, OH, which is about an hour drive from the heart of Akron. If you are like us and do not plan to use multiple tanks of gas and a credit card to find family fun this year, may I suggest Comfort Inn Splash Harbor as one of your destinations in the coming months.
This particular Comfort Inn – home to Splash Harbor Indoor Water Park – was a hidden gem we had not yet discovered. During our stay, the facility shined, leaving our kids beaming for days due to the great time we had together in the sparking pools and clean and comfortable room.
Comfort Inn Splash Harbor Accommodations
Upon our arrival to Comfort Inn Splash Harbor, we immediately looked over our accommodations for the evening and could not have been more pleased. We found the room spacious and spotless; the décor, warm and inviting; the bathroom, ample and immaculate; and the beds and pillows, plush and cozy – later providing us all with a restful night of sleep.

After examining our room, we changed in to our swimsuits to check out Splash Harbor. It did not take us long to jump in and have a blast! Splash Harbor boasts a 49 foot, looping water slide, which my 3-year-old daughter and I ventured down dozens of times together.
My oldest daughter, who just turned 5, could not be pulled away from the sprayground, featuring dumping buckets of water, sprinklers and shooting geysers.
My husband particularly loved kicking back in the two hot tubs – one is for adults and the other is appropriate for entire the family. He also enjoyed the two water basketball hoops, especially because my 1-year-old cheered each time “dada” made a shot.
The indoor, heated water park also offers a large swimming area and a special pool area for the little ones, which was perfect for my toddler and preschoolers.
Splash Harbor was just the right size for our family. It was such a relaxing environment, complete with lots of chairs around the perimeter for lounging and a large floating raft to use in the pool area.
The entertaining venue made us feel like we were in the tropics instead of the middle of Ohio, which was an awesome experience.

Before we returned to the water park for more splashes and smiles the next morning, we dined on the free continental breakfast. And what a scrumptious breakfast it was, offering homemade waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits, cereal, Danish, fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice.
I relaxed near the fireplace for a bit to read the complimentary newspaper before we stopped in the hotel’s gift shop and game room, complete with video arcade games and pool and air hockey tables.
Comfort Inn also has an adequate fitness facility, free for fitness-loving guests to utilize.
I really appreciate that the entire facility is smoke free and offers free Internet access and secure access.
There are numerous attractions right next to Comfort Inn, including an Amish restaurant and gift shop; additional dining options; a championship golf course; biking trail; miniature golf; and an ice cream store. Comfort Inn Splash Harbor is just minutes from Mansfield and all its attractions and about an hour drive from loads of Columbus activities.
Comfort Inn Splash Harbor would be a fantastic site for a birthday party and even offers day passes to the 6,000 square foot waterpark for those not wishing to spend the night. Numerous overnight and weekend packages are offered at the facility, as well.
