One of our most visited articles in the summer time is swimming pools for kids in Akron. Who knows if this will be a sweltering summer or one of global cooling, but it’s always great to have a plan to cool off the kids aside of the garden hose.
Any pool is great, however I am a fan of finding one place in the summer and sticking with it! Why you may ask? Giving your kids the opportunity to meet and play with the same children over and over again allows them to build social skills and real life friendships- outside of the digital world.
This of course goes VERY MUCH the same for mommies and daddies too. You know you need more friends- we all do. Go make some!
Akron Area Lake Swimming Season Passes for the Summer
The MetroParks has two locations that offer lake swimming here in Summit County- Munroe Falls Park MetroPark in Munroe Falls and the Silver Creek MetroPark on the edge of Norton.
The swim season is May 25th through August 18th.
If you add it up…
An Akron Resident who signs up herself and two under 12 children today for a Lake Swimming Pass
$45 for a full season pass.
For a family of four with two 15 year olds,
the total today would be $100.
The value of these passes is quite amazing- the areas themselves are beautiful, they have food stands but you can bring your own coolers and camp out for the day – or every weekend. And in all likelihood you may start seeing the same people on the same days over and over again.

What Else I like about SilverCreek MetroPark
So, I probably shouldn’t say this, but I know for a fact that there is a huge blackberry bush area at SilverCreek MetroPark. You’re not allowed to eat the berries, says the park ranger…when he is there. You can find this area by heading up to the fishing dock area and turning left at the lake, following the lake around clockwise for no more than a tenth of a mile and you’re in the midst of them. In the mid the late summer the area is delicious! Oh, I mean Beautiful!
