How have you enjoyed this Summer? Hopefully you founds some time to enjoy the sun (between all of our stormy weather)! Many of us take to the water during the Summer to enjoy swimming, fishing, sailing, watersports, and boating.
Growing up, my family didn’t do much on the water, however my kids are like fish and LOVE the water. Whenever we are on vacation, we head to the beach and take a boat trip or two! This Summer, we are headed to Plymouth, MA where we will take a whale-watching trip – my kids are ecstatic! I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Discover Boating. To bring the love of water and boating to my parents and sibling’s families, we have planned a boating trip on Portage Lakes. We are renting a pontoon boat and cruising the lakes for the day. It is going to be so fun with kids ages 2 – 12! All of the cousins are super excited about our boating trip!
Portage Lakes is so neat with so much to discover. Even though Portage Lakes is in Summit County, it is going to feel like we are far away from the normal hustle and bustle of life – it always does on the water. Going as a larger group will make it even more exciting! There are even water-front restaurants along the lakes to stop for lunch. 
If you are considering buying a boat, Discover Boating actually recommends “trying before you buy” by renting. This is a great way to find the right boat for you. There are plenty of places to rent boats from daily rentals to peer-to-peer rentals of houseboats, sailboat, chartering, and more.
You can also figure out what kind of boat is right for you by determining the kind of recreation you like most on the water. Boats are designed for different activities, so there is a boat for everyone. Do you enjoy freshwater fishing? saltwater fishing? sailing? water sports? cruising with family and friends? racing? There are boats to fit every need and desire.
For my family, boating is a way to escape as a family to another world – a world of fun! There is so much to discover while boating, it is like seeing the world with a new set of eyes.
There is still plenty of Summer left to enjoy – consider boating with your family – on the river, lake, or ocean!
