You are in for a real treat during your next visit to the Akron Zoo! Two endangered snow leopard cubs were born at the Akron Zoo this Spring and are now in their exhibit!
One male, Makalu and one female, Malaya were born on April 14, 2014 and are on exhibit for a limited time daily, 10 am – 1 pm daily. They are super adorable, you’ll want to spend the whole day just watching them climb, play, and explore! They are curious cubs and fun to watch!
Malaya is the more outgoing and independent cub, also the first born, first to climb out of the nest box, and first to eat meat.
Makalu is calmer, but curious. He enjoys interacting with enrichment and new scents.
This is Shanti and Roscoe’s second successful litter born at the Akron Zoo. Their first, Raj and Sabu are now residing at the Binder Park Zoo in Michigan and The Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island.
I continue to be amazed at the improvements the Akron Zoo continues to make annually. Baby cubs are always a treat but the exhibits and new attractions continue to impress me. Have you visited since the new Grizzly Ridge Exhibit opened last year? There is so much to see and do there, including my kids’ favorite – the otter slide!
