ALDI Makes Holiday Entertaining Affordable

During the holiday season, there are many parties and gatherings. To each, we are expected to bring something totally delicious to share. Usually, we opt for special desserts, appetizers, and wine to celebrate with something a bit more special than we do throughout the year. This gets EXPENSIVE! There is a way to save money and eat like a king during the holiday season, the solution is ALDI.

Do you shop at ALDI?

It is a mysterious place for some where all you know is that you have to pay a quarter for a cart and bring your own shopping bags. For others, we know that it is a place to buy quality food at exceptionally low prices. This holiday season, I am shopping ALDI to for not only for everyday items but even fancy foods.

With food prices 50% Less than traditional supermarkets, I shop ALDI all the time. My favorite department is their produce section!

In the past, I found myself buying less fresh produce during the winter because prices are so high at traditional supermarkets. This is not healthy but seemingly the only option. I can’t pay $2.99 a lb for peppers! At ALDI, I can buy 2 large red and yellow peppers for just $1.50 – that’s more than 50% less than other stores. I can buy tons of fresh produce year round to keep my family healthy all year round.

For the Christmas and holiday season, I am trying some new products at ALDI. In addition to their produce, dairy, and baking deals that I normally buy, I am buying wine, gourmet cheeses, and jams.

Did you know that ALDI carries a full line-up of award-winning international exclusive wines? Most are priced at $4.99, so enjoying and gift-giving wine this holiday season won’t kill your budget.

ALDI had 6 wines in stock that won medals at the Beverage Testing Institute in 2011 including:

  • Walker Napa Valley Red Wine (California) 88 points, Silver Medal
  • Vina Decana Tempranillo (Spain) 88 points, Silver Medal
  • Memoir Red Wine (California) 83 points, Bronze Medal
  • Villa Malizia Pinot Grigio (Italy) 86 points, Silver Medal
  • Chaza Moscato (South Africa) 85 points, Silver Mdeal
  • Sovinello Private Collection Pinot Noir (Italy) 85 points, Silver Medal

I purchased the Landshurt Riesling (Germany) that earned 84 points and the Silver Medal to pair with our ham dinner at Christmas. It is light and fruity so it also goes well with shellfish, chicken and even Asian, Indian and German-style dishes. I also purchased the Burlwood Cellars Chardonnay for cooking, of course, it is good to enjoy alone too.

ALDI Holiday Entertaining Products

All parties must start out with yummy appetizers and cheese. ALDI has a variety of cheeses year round that will help you live well and save money – I stock up on their shredded cheeses, including freshly shredded Parmesan all the time. During the holidays, they also have 15 specialty cheeses including Honey Goat Cheese, Creamy Havarti, Chive Goat Cheese, Brie, and more. I bought one of each for setting out with crackers and making delicious appetizers.

Add ALDI wine to you holiday shopping list for gatherings – you will save a lot of money when you switch and save with ALDI wine while still giving your guests fine wine.

Last week, I brought the ALDI Baked Brie with me to a party. Everyone loved it. It was quite fancy from what I normally bring to parties and cost a lot less!! It was easy to make too. I warmed the brie in the oven. Then, I cooked Southern Grove Dried Cranberries with Burlwood Cellars Chardonnay and Berryhill Blackberry Fruit Spread. I poured the sauce over the brie and served with crackers.

It was devine. And nobody knew I saved money by buying the ingredients at ALDI!

If you don’t like the ALDI product you purchase, no worries – they have a double guarantee. If you don’t like it, ALDI will replace the product AND give you your money back! I have done this before with just one item that we didn’t care for and had no hassel at all, they replaced the product and refunded my money quickly.
