Did you know that curb appeal sells 49 percent of homes? I know this personally as we received many compliments on the landscaping of our homes that we have sold. Good curb appeal is inviting. Whether you are selling your home or just want to improve the look of your home, the following steps on how to improve your curb appeal is certain to be helpful!
How to Improve Your Curb Appeal
Tip 1: Water Correctly
Be sure that your automated or manual method of watering covers the landscape, you don’t want to overwater one spot and underwater another. For your lawn, give it a steady watering once a week, depending on rainfall, grass, and soil type. Of course, abide by your local water restrictions.
Tip 2: Complement With Color
Don’t just pick out flowers that you like, maybe the orange and pink colors together doesn’t coordinate well with your house color. Consider your home’s exterior when selecting plants based on color and plant sizes. Don’t forget to dead head plants and remove dead plants.
Tip 3: Grass Vs. Weeds
Just because it is green, or mostly green doesn’t mean it is grass. Grass and weeds actually compete for lawn space and nutrients, be sure to get rid of the weeds. We use TruGreen and couldn’t be more pleased with our yard! Check out these pictures taken in March of our lawn, it is so green that it looks like the middle of summer!
We seeded our yard 2 summers ago, by hand. We have rocky and poor soil quality, with lots of shade. However, we are totally pleased with our great our grass looks. All winter long, our yard looked GREEN, better than our previous yards have looked with better soil! Compare our yard with our neighbor’s yard. We had the exact same moss-filled yard last year. Our lawn is far from perfect, we need to overseed this Spring. However, you can see exactly where TruGreen sprayed and fertilized and where they didn’t!
TruGreen will design a custom plan to provide your yard with exactly what it needs. We have only had a couple applications and already see the difference! The TruGreen Healthy Lawn Plan includes protection against lawn pests, the use of a time-release formula to gradually feed important nutrients to the lawn, and ongoing customized lawn care.
