For lifelong learners, we need to give our children good foundations for learning. Kids need a go-to place for all their homework needs at home.
Just like adults, kids do better with a consistency, such as setting up a homework station for them to study that is free of distractions. Having their own desk or homework station allows kids the ability to concentrate better, be more alert, and more organized.
This homework station should be a workspace that has all their supplies within reach. That is why my husband and I have decided to create homework stations for our kids’ bedrooms this school year by investing in desks.
My kids have always enjoyed creating their own ‘office’ with their nightstands. It is so cute! They pull them away from their bed, set them up with paper, markers, etc and write their own books, play ‘office’, ‘work’ at their desks, and my daughter even plays school.
This is sort of their cry for their own desks, don’t you think? 🙂 Although they are still young and often need help with homework, we know that introducing a homework station for each of them to start the school year off right.
We headed first to Kohl’s first because they have everything you need for back to school for the youngest preschoolers to college students. We already purchased school supplies, shoes, and some clothing last month. We still have more shopping left for clothing but this week, we focused on their rooms and getting their space ready for the upcoming year of homework and studying.

There is a dorm section at our local Kohl’s that has everything college students need for bedding, bath, storage, small electrics like mini fridges and coffee makers, electronics, kitchen and dining ware, and everything they need for personal care and hygiene when off on their own. They have have chairs, desks, ottomans, futons, lighting, and cool decor.
There was a desk at the store but not exactly what we were looking for, so we headed to Kohl’s online where there are hundreds of options not found in stores!
For my daughter, we are thinking of purchasing the Naples Student Desk because it is the right size and matching her current bedroom decor. For my son, we are looking at the Registry Row Desk because it matches his decor.
Both desks are sized right for them with plenty of surface space for the papers, school supplies, etc that they have now and laptops that they will have in the coming years. Having a desk will promote a better, active learning environment for each of them this and for many years to come.
All we need to do is load the desks up with a nice desk lap and school supplies. BTW, did you know that Kohl’s is offering school supplies this year too? They make it easy to get all your back to school shopping done in one trip!
