Books That Should be on Your Kids’ Christmas List

If you are looking for a Christmas gift that will be enjoyed for months and months, be sure to put books to your Christmas list for kids.  We were able to review a few great books that should be on your kids’ Christmas list by Vantage Press.

The Adventures of Fluff The Wonder Bear

The Adventures of Fluff the Wonder Bear by Maureen E. Lupton will take your child on an adventure as they discover health and fitness. With childhood obesity at an all-time high, teaching kids in a fun way about health and fitness is so important.

This chapter book is great for school age boys and girls. It makes learning fun in a detective sort of way that kids love.  For instance, there are pop out messages in notes throughout the book that brings home the message like “Moral of the 10,000 Steps: Whatever the weather, just take steps – the more, the merrier!” It is a clue and important to the story but something kids will also hopefully remember and act on in real life.

If Trees Could Talk

If Trees Could Talk by Paul Kay Jr. is a beautifully illustrated book that both preschoolers and school age boys and girls will enjoy. This book will take your child on an adventure that is all about trees and their importance and presence in our lives.

There are fun facts throughout the book that your kids will enjoy learning, like telling the age of a tree by the rings

This book gives feelings and emotions to trees as they tell the reader what it is like to be a tree – it is a very good thing to be a tree when looking through their ‘eyes’.

Gourdy’s Adventure

Gourdy’s Adventure by Penelope King is a small chapter book about Gourdy the mouse and sibling rivalry. This is a perfect book for families with kids that like to bicker and fight – that’s about all families, right? 🙂

This book is adorably illustrated with easy-to-read print for school-age kids. It is fun to read to younger kids too. In this book, Gourdy doesn’t really want his sister to go with him on an adventure but in the end, he is sure glad she was there!
