KRE-O Transformer Construction Sets are going to be a hit this Christmas season! Hasbro has all the cool transformers available for constructing. These 2-in-1 constructions sets allow you to build both the robot and the vehicle with just one set. Bumbleebee is my kids’ favorite Transformer, mine too! Now, kids can build their own super-cool Bumblebee and his car. The KRE-O set comes with 335 KRE-O construction pieces, so this is a project to be enjoyed during a long afternoon or over a couple sessions. Then, it can be taken apart and made into either the robot or car. I love that this is a 2-in-1 toy!
[slickr-flickr tag=kreobumblebeebox]The set also comes with 3 KREON figures: BUMBLEBEE, RED ALERT and Driver! These figures can sit on the wings of Bumblebee or sit inside and drive the sports car. The KREON figures are a big hit with my kids as they love to develop complex imaginary stories and actually play with their construction after it is built. KRE-O sets are sturdy when built, for lots of playing even after the building is done.
This product will be a hit for your kids ages 7-14. I am saving this construction set for my son for Christmas. He will be 7 by then and ready for the challenge of a more complex building set. For this review, I put the set together with some assistance from my almost-5-year-old daughter. She loves Bumblebee and was eager to help once the pieces started looking like Bumblebee! It is a slow start with 335 pieces, so she was more happy to assist toward the end. For me, I am not a good direction follower, so I was very, very happy to find how well the directions were laid out!
[slickr-flickr tag=ourbumblebee]First, we separated the 335 pieces by size and color. This makes it a lot easier to find the pieces you are looking for. This is essential for building with younger kids like my son, so they don’t get easily frustrated with the size of the project. The directions clearing illustrate with photos the pieces you need for each step and how to assemble them. Even a mom can assemble KRE-O construction sets! LOL Seriously, clear directions are so important and Hasbro did a great job.
[slickr-flickr tag=kreopieces]The building pieces fit nicely together and secure. But not, so secure that they can’t be deconstructed and built again. This can be a problem with lower-end building blocks. Be aware. KRE-O construction sets can be mixed up with the leading building bricks and work seamlessly together. This is great for my son since he now will have 3 different kinds of building blocks of the same size. Keeping them separated from each other would be impossible. I was pleased with the quality of the product, good directions, good price, and a very popular theme of Transformers.
