Summer is the perfect time to tackle a DIY home remodel project or just update a room with color! We are transforming an extra bedroom into a bonus family room in our home. It started with the need for an extra room to relax, watch TV, and chill in. Since we don’t have a basement but did have an extra bedroom, we decided to head upstairs this Summer to renovate. Of course, I head to ACE Hardware, the largest retailer-owned hardware store in the world.
I received a gift card to facilitate this post.
For me, I need inspiration for a project like this. I like to be creative but when it comes to color on the walls, I need guidance and design inspiration which is exactly what I got with the Ace Hardware 31 Days of Color. Each day, they reviewed a new color combination for walls, trim, and decor in various rooms. You can find similar inspiration at your local Ace Hardware store with their eye-catching color racks, unique pullouts, and brochures.
My kids have no problem being inspired by color! They have complete opposite ideas on what the room should look like. My son is going for a manly combination of slate blue and olive green. My daughter is going for all the bright colors of the rainbow. Although my kids will probably spend most of the time in the extra family room, we need the room to coordinate with the hallway colors as well.
I like shopping at Ace for paint because it is a smaller, neighborhood store type of experience. They are always ready to assist and mix paint right before your eyes at the Paint Studio.
It is memorizing how they can expertly transform paint into the perfect color choice for you. More amazing is how they can recreate that color years later when you decide that your room needs touch-ups and you have no idea what the name of the paint color was!
We reviewed two lines of paint from Ace Hardware. Clark+Kensington is a premium line of paint+primer in one that makes painting twice as fast! We used this for our walls because we had a lot to cover and didn’t want to take extra time priming! Clark+Kensington is an Ace Hardware exclusive paint that has been recommended by a leading consumer magazine! Valspar is another excellent paint choice that has been around since 1806 – it is a name you can trust!
I love flipping through the brochures for color and room inspiration. Even when I’m not working on a project, I like to stop by for inspiration.
Ace Hardware makes it easy to try out new colors in your home with their color sample station. If you aren’t sure on a color, you don’t have to commit to a whole gallon! Simply choose a color and get 1 pint. Go home and try it out. If you like it, return the sample to get your $5 back when you purchase a gallon of paint!
Who can resist free paint?! This is good for Clark+Kensington and Valspar paints.
If you are not sure what kind of paint to purchase – flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, hi-gloss, ceiling, etc., the paint studio expert will advise you. Are you looking for a little inspiration for a DIY home remodel and renovation project too? I suggest heading to your local Ace Hardware store today.
