Welcome to Day Three of our Family Fun in Toledo, Ohio series where we are exploring everything fun for families in three quick days!
On Day One of our Family Fun in Toledo, Ohio series, we visited the Toledo Museum of Art, National Museum of the Great Lakes, Imagination Station, and recreation at the Maumee Bay State Park Lodge.
On Day Two, we visited the BEST Zoo in the USA – the Toledo Zoo, dined at the Real Seafood Company at The Docks, had a snack at the Maumee Bay Nature Center, and hiked and biked miles of trails at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge.
Day Three was more relaxing and exactly what we needed!

Family Fun Toledo Day Three:
On our final morning, we enjoyed a relaxing breakfast with a Lake Erie view. Again, my kids proclaimed that the bacon was the best ever.
Next, we took canoes on the small lake. That was a lot of fun and just the perfect amount of space to canoe or paddleboat with young children.
We took another bike ride and relaxed by the beach on Lake Erie.
My kids played on the playground that is located right next to the lodge and near the boardwalk.
We relaxed by the fire with yet another ice cream cone before hitting the road back to Akron, Ohio.
We were at the lodge for 2 nights and had a fantastic time. It really felt like we were “away” from it all. I’m not sure if it is the lake-side destination or the time set aside for fun with my family but it really didn’t feel like we were still in Ohio. Our trip to Toledo felt like a vacation away from it all – but without a long drive or flight!
If you are planning a staycation this year or are just looking to get away for a few days, I highly recommend taking your family to Maumee Bay State Park Lodge. We were there for 3 days, but I recommend staying at minimum of 5 days to fully appreciate what Maumee Bay State Park Lodge and Toledo has to offer for family fun.
