There are various ways to Put-in-Bay but the easiest and most family-friendly is with Miller Boat Line Ferries. We’ve been taking Miller Boat Lines for years and have fun every time, check out our review. For us, the fun of Put-in-Bay starts when boarding the Miller Ferry. The excitement of the day ahead is lingering in the air as we speed through the waves of Lake Erie! My kids love watching the waves crash and trying to be the first to spot Put-in-Bay![slickr-flickr tag=onmillerferry]
The trip is just about 20 minutes to Put-in-Bay. Miller Boat Line Ferries leaves the dock about every 30 minutes, depending on the time of day, so it is very convenient to get to and off the island. Check out their full schedule here.
The trip back home is always a little bit of a surprise. Our kids are usually exhausted after a full day of fun at Put-in-Bay, however they catch that second wind once they board the Miller Ferry! Usually we sit up front so we can see and experience it all! This year, they wanted to go on the lower deck where the cars are to get splashed but we decided against it. I didn’t think wet clothes for a 2 hour drive sounded like fun on a 60 degree day! We did, however have fun watching the people down below get splashed! 🙂 The trip back to mainland on the Miller Ferry is the perfect way to end your day.[slickr-flickr tag=returntripmiller]
Be sure to bring a jacket because even in the Summer, it gets cool at night on Lake Erie.
