Recently, the AkronOhioMoms bloggers were invited to a Girls’ Weekend Getaway to Columbus, Ohio. I was excited to see the sights as well as be with my fellow bloggers since we honestly don’t know each other well. Unfortunately, Veronica was not able to make it and we missed her being there.
Girl’s Night Out is common, I’m sure you’ve go out with your girlfriends now and then too. It’s a fun evening away from the business and responsibilities at home to reconnect with your friends. I’ve never been on a Girls’ Weekend Getaway before. Let me give you a piece of advice – do it! It was the most relaxing time to just go out with friends to do “girl stuff”.
Our trip started out at the Columbus Museum of Art, which was right up Joanna’s ally with her love and schooling in Art. We did all agree that our kids would have enjoyed their kids section and plan to bring them back. It was relaxing and fun for us adults as well.

Our next stop took us to the Surly Girl Saloon, where we had a little bit of sass with a whole lot of amazing comfort food that is still making my mouth water.

Surly Girl Saloon is right in the heart of the Short North. The Short North in Columbus is an artsy shopping area where you can find one-of-a-kind items. This is a fun, artsy place to spend the afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. If you are looking for one-of-a-kind items, antiques, and unique items, this is the place for you. A few stores that we visited included Substance which tailor makes their clothing in their store. They offered lovely, affordable one-of-a-kind pieces of flowing clothing. We also stopped in at the Grandview Mercantile, which is a very large antique store with everything imaginable. Flower Child offered unique items from times past as well. ReVue was a unique consignment store offering furniture and home decor. Our shopping trip brought out the silly side in us all.

After a full day, we checked in at the Renaissance Columbus Ohio Downtown Hotel for the night. It is a beautiful hotel located right in the heart of Columbus. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and views before heading out for dinner.

For dinner, we dined at Barcelona Restaurant & Bar, an upscale Spanish influenced restaurant. The atmosphere and food hit the spot. We met an Akron mom with her college age girl who sat beside us, they were there celebrating the daughter’s birthday.

The next morning, Joanna and I slept in, while Beth did a little sight seeing. She called us bums but we enjoyed the rest that all moms need – another reason to go on a girls’ weekend away! Our first stop was the Columbus Topiary Garden, a free park with very cool topiary displays.

The last stop on our Columbus, Ohio Girls’ Weekend Getaway was at the The Franklin Park Conservatory. We were all surprised at how much we enjoyed this last stop. From butterflies to scones to live glass blowing demos, it was the favorite part of our trip.

I hope you will read through our reviews and plan a trip with your friends or family to our state’s capitol, Columbus, Ohio soon.
